Christmas can be bittersweet for families depending on their circumstances and this is no less true for those who serve in our nation’s armed forces. There might be a family member deployed overseas during the holiday, or perhaps their loved one has returned not quite the same as when he or she left.

Financial crisis, time constraints, and other stresses can make Christmas a cause for anxiety and sorrow rather than celebration. As difficult as these situations can be, this need creates an opportunity to demonstrate goodwill for our heroes at home.

The Freedom Alliance Presents for Patriots program is our way to help these American Heroes through their time of hardship.

From Marine Corps Base 29 Palms, California to and Parris Island, South Carolina, Freedom Alliance works with military caregivers on military installations across the county to identify families who need help at Christmas.

We speak to each family personally to ensure every gift is special and that each child receives the Christmas they deserve.  Last year, we selected 53 families, impacting 231 people. This year our goal is to provide Christmas blessing for 75 families!

“We have a unique opportunity at Christmas to express our gratitude and lift some of the burden for the steadfast, who have sacrificed their health and well-being to serve our country,” says Freedom Alliance president Tom Kilgannon. “This is precisely what Freedom Alliance is committed to do with our Presents for Patriots project.”

Below are just two examples of the many heartfelt “thank-you” notes that last year’s Presents for Patriots family shared with us.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. With the money you donated I was able to provide a wonderful Christmas for my children and get them gifts they might not have been able to get otherwise. The kindness you have shown this year will never be forgotten by myself or my family and because of your kindness, I have decided to spread the good cheer and volunteer at a local homeless shelter,  which made a lot of other people happy. This is all due to the kindness you decided to show one family so again I would like to say thank you and I appreciate everything you have done for us.

Sincerely,
The McCray Family

We wanted to take a moment and thank everyone involved with Freedom Alliance for all of their kind hearts and help this Christmas. Words cannot express how thankful we are or describe what a true blessing this charity has been to our family this year. It’s a wonderful feeling of just knowing there are still people in the world that care and are willing to help others.  It was an amazing gift to watch our children lighten up with glee on Christmas morning. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of such a wonderful organization. Thank you for all that you have done for my family and other military households.  It will forever be appreciated in the hearts of us all! God Bless.

Sincerely,
The HebnerFamily
