Owner of Waterfowl Haven Outfitters, Jim Arnold, donated a hunt to two soldiers recovering from injuries sustained during combat.

Suffering from a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder from his service in Afghanistan, Sergeant James was supposed to go on a Freedom Alliance hunt in January. Unfortunately, the outfitter who would lead the hunt was injured and unable to go out for the rest of the season.

James was very patient, however, and the waiting finally paid off when Mr. Arnold met us at the Colorado Sportsmen’s Expo and wanted James to make up his missed hunt with Waterfowl Haven.

The sergeant brought along his friend and injured veteran Brett, who recently moved to the area.

Spending the day in Greeley, Colorado, on a snow-covered plain, Brett and James shot six geese during their time with Waterfowl Haven.

“This will go down as one of the best days of my life,” James told us. “Thank you so much for sticking in there and making this happen!”
