When the media reported last week on Bashar Al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons against his own people, President Donald Trump took quick and decisive action against the Syrian dictator.
On April 6th, President Trump authorized the use of 60 Tomahawk missiles to strike the Shayrat Airbase—the Syrian base from where Al-Assad’s chemical attacks were launched. These missiles were aimed at aircraft shelters, supply bunkers, air defense systems, storage units, and radars; none of the targets contained civilians.
It is, according to the President, in the “vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.” President Trump sent a message that the U.S. will not tolerate these sorts of horrific, brutal attacks against innocent lives.
The airstrike was supported by key international allies of the U.S., including the U.K., Australia, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. In this video, Colonel North provides his analysis of the strike and the President’s decision, arguing that it was a constitutional, legal, effective and necessary action.
On Thursday, April 13, President Trump authorized a bombing mission in Afghanistan, designed to “minimize the risk to Afghan and U.S. Forces conducting clearing operations in the area.” The bombing is a significant strike against ISIS.
