Freedom Alliance recently hosted its third annual American Heroes Getaway in Panama City, Florida – a five-day, all inclusive vacation for injured servicemen and their families. The Bay Point Marriott and Marina was our Getaway hotel, and they showed our heroes great hospitality for the entire week.

Our Getaway guests were USMC Staff Sergeant Lance Hickman and Army Specialist Aaron Cahill.  Both men were joined by their wives and children.

Staff Sergeant Hickman has been in the United States Marines for ten years and is from the Baltimore area.  He suffered back injuries and severe Traumatic Brain Injury while serving in the military. He has been deployed to Japan, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan while serving in the Marines.

Specialist Cahill served one tour in Iraq before becoming injured.  He suffered back and knee injuries and also suffered from severe TBI for a while.  He is currently receiving treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and grew up in Mississippi.

The week included a full day of deep-sea fishing aboard a 65’ Viking yacht, golf, dining and special treats for the rest of the family members.

The men caught fish on their day trip and later on, the hotel prepared their catch and served it to the families for dinner.  The wives enjoyed the day spa and the other amenities of the hotel.

The American Heroes Getaway proved to be very therapeutic for the families, as they recover from their injuries.

Freedom Alliance was proud to have hosted these families and this vacation would not have been possible without the generous support of our supporters.  Thank you very much.
