Freedom Alliance recently hosted a duck hunt in Colorado for five injured soldiers from Fort Carson. Nate, a volunteer, worked earnestly to provide a weekend of impromptu fun and adventure for our troops.

We put the fellows up at a cozy cabin on a cattle ranch in Rocky Ford, which kept them warm during the cool nights. During the first day, Nate led the gang to shoot rabbits and doves on the ranch. This assortment later comprised dinner on the grill that evening.

On the second day, securing a boat from which to shoot, the soldiers went in search of waterfowl. By the end of the hunt, they had taken 15 ducks—providing more dinners for succeeding nights.

For soldiers with injuries, these hunts offer a much-needed break from daily rehab and medical appointments. It’s recreation on their time and at their pace, and Freedom Alliance takes pleasure in providing these kind of beneficial and memorable experiences.
