The event is called Weekend to Remember®, and “that is exactly what it was,” said Sergeant Moses, who participated with his wife, Marie. It was a couples’ getaway, with a special event designed to show “exactly how to pursue a marriage that really works.”

Freedom Alliance arranged with FamilyLife—a ministry with a mission to change and empower marriages and families—for Moses and Marie to attend a two-and-a-half-day retreat at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs.

In 2011, Moses was evacuated by helicopter out of Afghanistan for spinal cord injuries associated with an explosion from an improvised explosive device. He and Marie have three wonderful children, ages 10 to 19, but the couple was eager to spend a weekend away, alone and minus the stress that comes with having a war-related disability.

Their vacation included admission to the Weekend to Remember, offered free of charge from FamilyLife. Freedom Alliance provided two nights at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort with meals, and even arranged a date night, which comprised a five-course dinner at the historic Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs.

“This retreat was perfect for anyone needing a little help with their marriage,” Moses said. At the conference, he and Marie heard from several speakers, who gave encouraging stories and practical advice for prospering spousal relationships.

You inspire us, Moses and Marie … we hope the weekend inspired you!
