Freedom Alliance Scholarship Ambassador Ja’Niayah Ellis recently traveled to California with Margaret from our Donor Relations team for a week filled with meaningful conversations, new experiences, and opportunities to connect with the supporters who make the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund possible.
As an ambassador, Ja’Niayah helps share the impact of the scholarship program while representing the many students whose lives have been changed through the generosity of our supporters.
Meeting the People Behind the Mission
The trip began in Huntington Beach, where Ja’Niayah and Margaret met with longtime Freedom Alliance supporter Sally Bender for lunch at Duke’s. Sally has been a dedicated supporter of Freedom Alliance for many years, and the visit provided an opportunity to share stories, express gratitude, and strengthen the connection between supporters and scholarship recipients.
Later in the week, Ja’Niayah continued connecting with supporters throughout California, including a visit with longtime Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund supporter Mike Galli in San Jose.
These conversations are an important reminder that behind every scholarship opportunity is a community of people who believe in supporting military families and honoring the sacrifices they have made.
Making Memories Along the Way
While the focus of the trip was connecting with supporters, Ja’Niayah also had the opportunity to experience some of California’s most iconic destinations.
During the week, she visited Disneyland California Adventure, explored Los Angeles landmarks including the Hollywood Sign and Beverly Hills, and visited Santa Monica Beach, where she put her feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
She also made a special stop at Yosemite National Park, a destination she had hoped to visit during her trip. After a hike to see Vernal Fall and taking in the views of Yosemite Valley and El Capitan, Ja’Niayah ended the week by watching the sunset at the Golden Gate Bridge.
A Week of Connection and Gratitude
From meeting supporters to experiencing new places, Ja’Niayah’s California journey was a meaningful opportunity to represent the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund and connect with the people who help make these opportunities possible.
