Freedom Alliance Board Chairman Jerry Morris

Freedom Alliance Board Chairman Jerry MorrisDulles, Virginia – Mr. Jerry Morris of Harrisonburg, Virginia died unexpectedly this week – on February 25, 2020 – at his seasonal home in Florida. He was 80 years old when our Lord called him home. Mr. Morris was a longtime supporter of Freedom Alliance, joining the organization shortly after our founding in 1990. He served on our Board of Directors since 2002 and as Chairman of the Board since 2015.

“Jerry provided tremendous leadership to this organization,” said Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon, “and did so in a quiet and humble way. He led by example. He was a kind and generous soul who admired and respected all those who serve our country. Jerry will be missed, but never forgotten.”

Jerry was an alumnus of Texas Christian University and served six years in the Air National Guard. He was a successful entrepreneur who, with his partners, started Packaging Services, Inc., a corrugated box manufacturing plant in Weyers Cave, Virginia. Later, he and his partners expanded their packaging companies throughout the mid-Atlantic. In 2000, he co-founded InterChange Group, a warehousing, logistics and real estate development company in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

In addition to his leadership for Freedom Alliance, Jerry served on the boards of Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater College, and Fiber Box Association. He also was a long-term Rotarian and active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Becky Morris; two children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Oliver North, the founder of Freedom Alliance said, “I valued Jerry’s friendship for nearly 30 years. He was a great evangelist for this organization, a gifted entrepreneur and business leader, a philanthropist, a patriot, a caring father, and loving husband to Becky. I miss him already. Semper Fidelis, my friend.”

The family will receive friends on March 26 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, Virginia. A celebration of life service will be held on March 27 at 11:00am at Asbury United Methodist Church, also in Harrisonburg.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Jerry Morris to Freedom Alliance to help provide college scholarships to the children of military heroes and rehabilitation services to combat veterans recovering from the wounds of war.
