On April 23, 2024, Freedom Alliance and US Bank presented Army SGT Christopher Hayden a new mortgage-free home in Maricopa, Arizona. SGT Hayden served five years, deploying with the 10th Mountain Division to Iraq. He was wounded in a Baghdad car bombing in 2005.

Chris was accompanied by his father, Ed, and step-mother, Rachel. The day began with Maricopa HS AFJROTC’s honor guard raising the flag. Tom Kilgannon began the presentation with kind words for all those in attendance and invited US Bank to speak and honor Chris.

Kilgannon stated, “Christopher Hayden fought in battle and sacrificed for our nation…Like so many combat veterans, he now struggles with the physical and emotional wounds of war, but this home will help as he focuses on his rehabilitation.”

Once inside, Chris and his family were in disbelief at how beautiful the home was, and they were all grateful for the furniture and décor donated by Ashton Woods. Chris was tremendously moved and honored, stating, “It’s not just generous, it’s literally life changing.”

“The peace that it will bring in life… will allow me to relax, finally.” He encouraged veterans to not be shy about asking for help, and to recognize that there are people and organizations like Freedom Alliance out there and more than willing to help.
